King Ashoka: His Edicts and His Times

This website contains a concise introduction of the edicts of King Ashoka, complete with information regarding the discovery of the rock and/or pillar edicts, and a brief glimpse at the historical King Ashoka (304 BCE - 232 BCE). The content of these edicts is discussed in relation to the reforms that were taking place and Ashoka's views on religion. The website also contains translations of Ashoka's edicts.
