Heritage and Traditions: Aboriginal Portal Canada

The Aboriginal Portal Canada is a collaborative effort of several native groups, maintained by the Government of Canada, and intended to provide one site for "First Nations, Métis and Inuit online resources and government programs and services." This particular page provides a list of links to material relating to Native heritage and traditions. Of particular interest is the link "Native Spirituality Guide - Community, Contract and Aboriginal Policing (PDF)." This is a pdf file of the handbook prepared for the RCMP that details the traditional Native spiritual practices and items an officer might encounter so that they may treat such practices and items with the appropriate respect. As such, it is a comprehensive general overview of Native religious and spiritual practices, prepared with the cooperation of Native Elders.
