Religions on the Rock
Religions on the Rock is a thirty-five minute film about religion in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, with a strong focus on the city of St. John's. After a short overview of the four-hundred year history of Christian Churches in the province, the film turns its attention to the Hindu, Muslim, and Sikh communities that have become established over the past forty years. Through interviews with Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs, the film introduces each religion's major beliefs, the characteristics and structure of each community, the community's experiences within Newfoundland and St. John's, and views on dating and marriage by both married and single members. The film shows us members in informal conversation and also engaged in religious practices in their respective places of worship.
